A prayer companion for children, made with parents in mind.

Camera and prayer sessions

The Android app uses the camera to estimate body position and provide movement feedback during a session. Camera frames are processed on your device. The app records video for reviewing moments after a session. We do not upload your camera images, videos, body-position results, scores, or prayer history to our servers.

What stays on your device

Settings, session history, scores, detected movements, video snippets, and retained full-session videos are stored in the app’s private storage. Full-video retention is enabled by default in the current version and can be changed in Grown-up setup. Retained videos remain on the device; turning retention off changes the cleanup behavior for sessions and review. To remove all locally stored app data, use Android Settings → Apps → Calm Salah → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app. Your device’s backup and restore settings may separately retain app data under your platform provider’s policies.

Grown-up setup

Device authentication protects grown-up settings. Authentication is handled by the operating system. Calm Salah does not receive or store your fingerprint, face template, device password, or other authentication credentials.

Network connections

The app may contact Expo’s update service to check for and download app updates. Network requests expose an IP address, app/update compatibility information, and a randomly generated installation identifier (EAS Client ID) to Expo. The installation identifier is stored on the device and is used by the update service; it is not a hardware identifier or an advertising identifier. It normally changes when app data is cleared or the app is reinstalled, although restoring a device backup may restore it. If an app update fails to launch, Expo may also receive a limited fatal-error report to diagnose the failure. These technical data support delivery, operation, and troubleshooting of app updates. Prayer recordings and history are not included in these requests. The app has no advertising, advertising identifiers, social feed, or third-party analytics SDK.

Children and family use

Calm Salah is designed for children practicing prayer with a parent or guardian. No account, child’s name, email address, or location is required in the app. A grown-up should set up the camera, supervise its use, and review recording-retention settings. Please do not send us children’s videos or identifying information when asking for help.

Website waitlist

The optional website waitlist is for parents and guardians. It stores the adult’s email address and chosen platform with Resend to send a confirmation and a launch notification. We do not ask for a child’s information. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email, or contact us to request removal. The website host necessarily processes network information to deliver pages and protect the service; rate-limiting information is held temporarily in server memory.
